Experience one of the rarest electric cars ever built.
There are currently only 11 completed Tangos in existence worldwide. Commuter Cars is preparing selected Tangos for short-term rental and long-term lease.
The existing Tangos are not being offered for sale.
Want to experience a Tango without committing to a long-term lease? Selected Tangos will be available for short-term rental, initially in Southern California. Potential uses include:
Rental availability and pricing are being finalized.
For those who want more than a brief experience, selected Tangos will also be available under longer-term lease arrangements. Leasing can provide the opportunity to use a Tango as your own vehicle for an extended period—without purchasing one of the existing cars.Lease terms, mileage allowances, insurance requirements and availability will depend on the vehicle and intended use.
Long-term lease availability and pricing are being finalized.
The Tango was designed around a simple idea:
Most cars use far more road space than necessary to carry one or two people.
At approximately 39 inches wide, the Tango seats two people in tandem rather than side-by-side. Despite its extraordinary width, the T600 was designed as a serious road-going electric vehicle, not a neighborhood vehicle or golf cart.
It combines:
Its narrow footprint allows two Tangos to occupy roughly the width normally required by a single conventional automobile.
Tangos have operated on public roads in the United States and internationally.
Because so few were built, opportunities to drive one have historically been extremely rare.
Our new rental and lease program is intended to change that—without selling the existing cars.
“You can’t own me” applies to the existing Tango fleet.
Commuter Cars continues to pursue the larger goal of bringing much more affordable Tangos into production.

“The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.”
“The formulation of the problem is often more essential than its solution, which may be merely a matter of mathematical or experimental skill.”
“If I had an hour to solve a problem I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions.”
